TIME FOR CHANGE

With breast cancer rates rising every year and increasingly younger women being affected, the current approach to breast cancer is not working.

It is definitely time for a change.

We have been lulled into a false sense of security that it is “OK” to get breast cancer because you probably won’t die (although around 12,000 women every year do) and because it makes you a stronger, better person.

Breast cancer fundraising and research is focussed on “finding a cure” but we are still such a long way from that.  No woman today who is treated for breast cancer can be given the assurance that the cancer won’t come back.

I think most women would be appalled to know how little of the money they may have been involved in raising is spent on primary prevention, ie making sure that fewer women get breast cancer in the first place.

I am inviting women everywhere to take control of their breast health by becoming informed, adopting some simple steps in their own lives and sharing their knowledge with other women.

Let’s start to focus on having healthy breasts and doing everything we can to protect them for ourselves and for our daughters’ generation.

IT’S TIME FOR WOMEN TO TAKE CONTROL!

Great post and I couldn’t agree more. I am a professional bra fitter and for years I have been ranting on about educating the younger generation about the importance of wearing a correctly fitting bra. This to me works hand in hand with breast health and being breast aware…. and is the ideal way to combine the two. This will be a definate pursuit if mine for 2012. X

    Dear Charlene

How do you measure for a bra – is the question that Sophie and I get asked most during our working day – we use a lot of friendly phrases and Miss Dolly helps encourage young girls to feel happy using her measuring page, which ensures a correct measurement first time. We feel that we are encouraging good breast health along with life-time awareness of the importance of good measuring. We would love to share your bra fitting tips for young girls. Maria and Sophie Law.
